Year 8: Ham and Cheese Calzone |

Ingredients: Dough: ·
225g White
Bread Flour ·
25g butter or
margarine ·
1 dessertspoon
milk powder ·
1 x 7g sachet
or 1 teaspoon dried yeast ·
100ml warm
water ·
1 beaten egg |
Filling: ·
50g ham ·
50g cheddar
cheese (grated) ·
A few leaves of
fresh basil |

Method: 1.
Turn on oven to
180 degrees. 2.
In a mixing
bowl put the flour, yeast and milk powder. 3.
Add butter or
margarine to bowl and rub in using fingertips. 4.
Slowly stir in
water until you have a soft, but not sticky dough. Knead for 5 minutes until
smooth. 5.
Cover loosely
with cling film and leave somewhere warm to prove. 6.
Roll dough out
into a circle and brush half of the dough with beaten egg. 7.
Lay slices of
ham on half the circle, then cheese, then basil. 8.
Fold other half
of dough over filing and seal. 9.
Brush with
beaten egg and place on baking tray. 10.Bake until golden brown for 15-20 minutes, but will depend on the
size of your Calzone. |
